If you’re looking at schools in GA, NC, SC, or TN, you will see snow, unless you’re at like the beach and maybe the most southern part of GA. But where I live, we always can tell if we’re getting snow, because it comes from Atlanta.

Yeah. They are only about once a year. I was just saying that they do happen and when they happen, the south isn’t really prepared for it. It’s also not super warm the entire year. My cheerleading coach was from Ohio and studying down here and once she joked “They tricked me! I thought I was going somewhere warm, yet it’s still cold here.”

Though I think it snowed three times last winter… Before Christmas break, Christmas Day, and in January, it’s usually only once or twice a year.

Point being: The weather really depends on the location.

AUgirl-
The reason most places in the south have little if any snow clearing equipment is that it simply is not cost effective to have it, given the relative infrequency that it is needed.

I’ve lived in the south for 35+ years (correction to above number). On average, it shows maybe once a year where we are. When I was further south, I saw a few flurries once. It freaked everyone out.

It can get cold, so people should not assume they can wear shorts and flip flips every day.

I’m black and I go to a southern state university (University of Tennessee if you care), and I’ve not had any problems with racism. A lot of people who go there are generally pretty southern and conservative (think bleach blonde sorority girls and rich frat boys), but it’s fine. I would say there isn’t a ton of race interaction though. I’m not sure about how it would be at other state universities, though.

The pics aren’t representative of our greek organizations. There are a lot of minorities in our top frats/and sororities.

Our KA frat has been associated with a racist event. I think our KA frat has only a handful of brothers who are from north of the Mason Dixon line. However even they are white/protestant (fits the KA demographics).
