Don't you see? Democrats and Republicans are basically the same party. Seriously. They're all the same to me: power-hungry bastards telling the American people what they want to hear. So, I support 3rd parties (though, I know they won't win).

I agree but I don't support third parties. I feel the party system is what's wrong with our government. It removes the voice of the individual and pressures you into thinking like the rest of the people in your group and pressures you into making decisions you otherwise wouldn't want to make because that's what the others in your party are doing. Political parties discourage free-thinking individuals and perpetuate uniform political robots.

I don't actually have a "party affiliation". But, I tend to like some of what third parties say (cut spending, improve schools, better air, etc.), so I support several of their CAUSES, not so much the party.

When the Dems were in the White House the last time, we had a balanced budget and a fairly fiscally responsible government. We now have debt so far out there that YOUR grandkids will still be paying for it.
Whatever else you may say about the Dems, the last administratiojn handled our money much better than the folks in power now.

I expect that the whole gay marriage paranoia will go away once your generation is in Congress and the old folks in there now are dead or retired. Even the young republicans I know think it's silly. No one is forcing them to marry gay people. This is a matter of denying rights to a whole segment of society. It will change, just as the laws banning marriage to someone of a different race changed. I'm counting on you young people to set things right.

I agree that the last administration was more fiscally responsible, but I think that it is more attributed to the divided government in the 90's. It seems that whenever a party has total control they go on a spending spree.
