I am very interested in going to this school. I am going to be a senior, GPA is 5.4 on a 5.0 scale, i'm 3/240, SAT is 1880 (not to great i know). Can someone give me the good and bad sides of SMU? THANKYOU!

SMU has decent academics in several areas. The B school is well known. The EE program is supported by several major industrial partners including TI.

It is well known for the wealth of the student body. It is heavily Frat/Sor oriented. Lots of Lexus and Mercedes on Soriety Row. There is a general apathy for anything remotely political.

The location is University Park in north Dallas, a very wealthy inner city. Shopping is available (high end, nearby). Night life is a very few blocks away. The facilities are very good in most cases. Many new buildings have been built in the last few years.

The sports programs have been de-emphasized since the death penalty on the football program in the 80's. It is still Division I, but competes at the lower end now. Strong golf, tennis, swimming, etc.

Your stats should get you in, but you may want to re-take the SAT. I don't know if they require any SAT IIs.

ur sat should be fine. my friend got int with lower.

thankyou so much for your help!! I did take the SAT again in June and am waiting on my results right now.

i can say you defiently will make it in....I am also very interested i have a 4.4 on a 6 and i got a 1950 on my SAT and 30 on my ACT. I have vsited itthere and i Have to tel you the nights i was there with my browhere the funnest nights of my life if u like the Frat scene it is theplace to be....on another note my bro got a 1260 and a 4.3 out of 6 and he got in so your set.....Basicaly if you have the $ your in....=)

yeah i love the campus!!! its so pretty. do you live near? why are you interested in going to school in dallas? i'm just curious! thanks for the confidence booster though

you'll get in for sure.... admission isn't very competitive. if you're into material items and like frat/sororities and conservative students- it's perfect. the girls supposedly are always really dressed up for school.. designer clothes, lots of make-up, and fake-baked.

don't go to school anywhere in north texas

what's wrong with North Texas? i think i know pretty much everything about it because i do live there.

i've grown up there....just a bunch of hate groups and hypocritcal christians.....unless ur a conservative, blonde, white rich protestant this place sux

Dallas Fort Worth Arlington been there done that i guess too......much hate towards Baylor, TCU, SMU too... ehh im a liberal too this isn't my place

i've grown up there too and i'm completely the opposite of your description- liberal, brunette, middle class. but i go for the academics, not the social aspect and i don't mind being surrounded by people different form me- after all that is what the world is about and there's no better place to learn that than in college.

yeah but after having a teacher who knew about this KKK place in Dallas and talked about it in class enthusiatically and didn't get fired, im out. UT Austin is my kind of place : ). Different in the sense everyone is different, not just me vs. everyone else.
