Southwest opened up their reservations through Jan 4th today

Never too early to book flights for football weekends, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (one way for now).

I would love to buy tickets for Christmas break…do we have any idea when they get to come home? I would buy them for the last day, just in case. Any suggestions?

The last day of Finals is Friday December 14th.

If your schedule is set and won’t be changing then you can find out when their last final will be by looking at this link.

[Fall 2012 Exam Schedule | The Office of the University Registrar - The University of Alabama](http://registrar.ua.edu/academics/final-exam-schedules/fall-2012-exam-schedule/)

Thanks casino I was just looking Friday for thanksgiving and it wasn’t available.

Really debating the Christmas break. Don’t think I want him to make the drive for 3+ weeks. Weighing that with no car over break & airline tix. I would think he could leave car at his apt, hopefully it would be ok.

Would someone please clarify Winter Break for me. Since finals appear to end on Dec. 14th, can our child fly home on Dec. 15th. When I look at the parent calendar it appears that the holiday break begins Dec. 21, 2012 and ends Jan, 1, 2013.

Does he have to fly back on New Years Day, in order to start classes Jan 2nd, or am I confused?

I think that means university business offices open Jan 2.

This says spring semester starts Jan 11.

[Spring 2012 Academic Calendar | The Office of the University Registrar - The University of Alabama](http://registrar.ua.edu/academics/academic-calendars/spring-2012/#tab=tab-1)

You’re confusing The University closing versus kids not having classes. Your kid can go home after his last final. The last possible day one could have a final would be Dec 14th but some may be done a day or two before. So flying home Dec 15th is fine. Spring semester starts Jan 9th so he should be back on campus the 7th or 8th.

You’re looking at this past Spring’s (2012) calendar. Spring 2013 starts Jan 9th.

[Spring 2013 Academic Calendar | The Office of the University Registrar - The University of Alabama](http://registrar.ua.edu/academics/academic-calendars/spring-2013-academic-calendar/#tab=tab-1)

Thank you casinoexec for correcting me and keeping us all correct.

You’re welcome. I just can’t believe it will be 2013 in 6 months. Wasn’t the Y2K scare just yesterday?

Also remember that the BCS Championship game will be in Miami on Jan 7th. And I’m GUARANTEEING that our Tide will be playing (and winning) that game. Many kids will want to be back on campus for that game so make sure you book accordingly.

Confession: I’ve booked my S THREE tickets to get back to BHM for Thanksgiving break - one on Sunday in case he really decides he’d rather have the extra time at home and is willing to miss the game (doubtful), one on Friday evening and one Saturday morning in case the game becomes a Saturday night game.

The football enthusiasm here has created a bit of a parental lunatic.

The first step is acknowledging we have a problem.

The second step is recognizing that the cure is worse than the disease. :)

Roll Tide!

Wow, you guys are awesome. I am so prepared on every front thanks to cc! I booked fall break and thanksgiving using miles. Only 13000 miles round trip. I love Southwest!

lol awesome. You sound like me when I booked months in advance for the BCS CG in New Orleans last January. Had to cover every possible scenario. Welcome to the Asylum :-)

Roll Tide!!
