Two of my options for undergrad are Southwestern and Trinity. Southwestern gave me over 100k but Trinity gave me a good amount also. I love that Georgetown is close to Austin, but Trinity is also in a big city (San Antonio). I am pretty sure I want to pursue pre-med. What are your thoughts about each of these schools? I am going to visit both of them soon, so hopefully that will help me decide.
I’m sure that once you visit that it’ll be clearer. I don’t think sports or Greek when I think of Southwestern. I think solid LAC with an emphasis on civic engagement, study abroad and Paideia. I don’t know enough about Trinity to comment.
I have a child who is about to graduate from SU. It’s a good school, but I think Trinity is probably better academically. That being said, if you want to go to med school, you should keep your undergrad costs as low as possible, so I’d choose the school that gives you the most money.
Be aware that SU requires all students to live on-campus for two years; not sure what Trinity’s requirement is for that, but on-campus housing and the required meal plans is a lot of money. Be sure and factor that in, too.
SU and Trinity are in the same conference athletics-wise, so there will be that interaction between the schools.
Then there’s the difference between Georgetown and San Antonio; SA is a huge city and Trinity is right in the middle of it. It’s a pretty cool set-up, in my opinion.
