My son, who will likely major in Spanish, is considering a semester abroad in Spain. His school only has programs through third party providers. The choice is CIEE, SIT,SFS, CET,CGE. Any advice on which program has positive reviews? Also, what should we be looking for when picking a program? Are there websites which rate or review programs?

Thanks for any info!

I went to Seville with CEA (Cultural Experiences Abroad) and absolutely loved it, but I see it’s not one of your options.

What you have to look for is what kind of housing the students receive and the distance from their university and study abroad program office, what meals/services are provided with the housing, what resources/support the program office gives (for instance, our program would send a staff member if we needed to go to the doctor in case we needed help explaining things in Spanish), what classes are offered, health insurance options, and what extras are included (excursions, cultural activities, etc. – since tuition is MUCH cheaper in Europe, you want to know you’re getting the most for your money since programs typically charge the same as what you’ll pay here).
