I'm not going to college for a long time (check my profile), but I want to know what studying in Spain for a semester is like.

Anyone?!?!?!?!?

it's awesome...o como se dicen en Espana es "de puta madre"...don't go around saying that in the US or Latin America though. lol. If I were to study abroad there again, I'd definitely do so in Salamanca (Spain's "college town") - it's gorgeous and tonsss of fun! =D

I'm in Spain right now, and I love it so far. Seville is beautiful. I'll get back to you later in the semester.

Spain is absolutely wonderful. I spent a lovely 6 months studying abroad there and it was fabulous! I went to Spain not speaking any Spanish (just 3 semester of grammar under my belt) and I left fluent! Of course, finding a "significant" other really help. Immerse yourself completely, and you'll truly get the experience. I lived in Madrid and I was fortunate enough to be in the heart of Spain when they won the EUROCUP! It was fabulous. The entire experience really opened up my eyes. If you are American, get ready to face stereotypes and some negative attitudes. I lived with a Spanish family which increased my Spanish speaking abilities. Bar life starts from 11pm-1:30am, and at 1:30am the discotecas open. If you speak Spanish from South America, they will know. There still exists antagonistic feelings. Make sure you mingle with classmates. The system in Spain is different than America. Most Spaniards do not show up for class, often Professors cancel/don't show up. You have all the material you need on the first day of class (you purchase photocopies of excerpts, not actual books which is nice). Also, be ready for lots of wine, coffee, partying, and all around great times.

I haven't really noticed any anti-American stereotypes and attitudes in Sevilla, except the occasional frustration with my Spanish. Sevilla is a very warm, friendly city. It's not as bustling as I imagine Madrid and Barcelona to be--really the only downside is the distance from the rest of Europe if you want to travel.
