Spanish 2 or Latin 1

Hey guys I know this topic had been on this forum many many times but I think this is a really important decision to make because it will last for 3 years. Im a freshman in high school, and I took Spanish 1 this year.

I am transfering to a different school this upcoming fall, and I was thinking of changing my 2nd language class to latin. However, since I know nothing about latin besides its a cool language, I will be taking latin 1.

Would this look weird to the admissions officers when I will be applying to colleges, especially selective ones? and in addition, apparently the school i’m transferring to has a really good classics program, so I think taking latin is a plus, but again, I will have up to latin 3 by my senior year.

In regards with my major in college, I’m looking at architecture/civil engineering right now. What language would help me with my future major/job the most?, and out of the two languages, which would help me for college application process?

Thanks so much for answering and you are the best.

No, although “selective” ones would generally prefer 4 years of 1 vs. 3+1. However, your reasoning makes sense, and it’s certainly something your GC can mention on the GC rec when the time comes. If it’s really a concern, try to accelerate during a summer.

Flip a coin. One will not be more advantageous than the other in the admissions process. Take the language that best suits your future goals or that you just enjoy more.

ok, thanks for your advice.
