Spanish 4 or AP Lit Senior Year

I have the choice of taking either AP Literature or Spanish 4 this year. I am in my senior year and this will be my 4th year of Spanish after 5 years of Latin in Elementary and Middle School. I took AP Lang&Composition last year and got a 4 on the AP test. My counselor says that taking Honors English will look like a step down when AP Lit is offered for seniors and that this will be more influential than having a 4th year of Spanish. What do you guys think?

Are the only sections of Spanish 4 and AP English literature offered at the same time?

Yeah, otherwise I’d definitely be taking both.

Is 4 years of foreign language recommended/required for any colleges you plan to apply to? Elementary/Middle school coursework doesn’t count towards this requirement (unless you took HS level courses in middle school and the courses appear on your HS transcript).

Whichever you take I’d ask the guidance counselor to note the scheduling conflict in his/her recommendation. And if you plan to apply to top tier colleges, be sure that you make a choice where the guidance counselor will check that you have taken the most rigorous schedule available.
