I have the option to take spanish 5 next year which is something I would rather not do. Currently, I'm in spanish 4 (junior). I took spanish 1 in middle school, 2 freshmen year, and 3 sophomore year. Would that be seen as taking 4 years of the same language or just 3?

haha i was in the exact same position as you last week. I convinced myself that it counts as 4 and decided to take a cooler class :)

It counts as four because Spanish 1 is considered a high school level course. Well... That's how they count it in my district at least. But I don't it's having 4 years as much as continuing it until the end. But hey--if it's not your thing don't stick to it just for college.

A lot of it depends on whether or not you actually received high school credit for it. If you have access to a transcript, it should be on there. If you got credit for it, the college would probably count it as four years. If you didn't get credit, they probably won't count it.

I don't think my school counts my Spanish I in MS as a HS credit course, but I'm saying screw it and quitting Spanish after Spanish after Spanish IV. You learn all the grammatical stuff in I, II, and III anyways. It's killing my GPA.
