spanish for med-school

i went to a med school seminar at my high school a while back and the two speakers (current students who got into med-school) basically said that we have to know spanish if we wanted to be doctors in the US.

is this notion true? and where along the route to being a doctor is this enforced?
do med schools require that you know spanish?

thanks

No, only UCLA’s medical school has this requirement.

It may not be required, but if you know spanish and can converse in it, it will make life a lot easier for you and your team…I wish I had stayed with it in college.
