What are some of the top choices for Spanish Grad School? and what are the chances of getting in? Thanks!

just in case anyone was confused, i didn't mean a college in a spanish-speaking country. i'm just looking for a school with a well known spanish program in the U.S. Thanks!

I have heard good things about UCLA.

Now:

For general admissions information read the first two pages of the Grad Admissions 101 thread. (No we can't tell you what your chances are because admissions doesn't work like undergrad.)

Be aware that job opportunities in MLA fields are few and far between.

Read the scholarly journals in your field.

Finally, you'll want to narrow your focus a bit from "Spanish" to at least a country (ideally a region) and a time frame. Once you've done this, if the right programs for you aren't obvious (they will be, trust me on this) meet with the professors who will be writing your LORs as THEY will know immediately where you should be applying.

Texas-Austin has a strong Spanish program.

Yeah, UCLA seems to have a great program. I would also seriously look at Berkeley and Columbia.

from what i heard university of kansas, university of texas austin, columbia, middlebury, unc, duke

Hi Quicksilver!
I am also appliying to a Spanish Grad program to start next fall. I'm considering Berekley and Davis (their faculty ranked # 1 in research productivity and I'm interested in that).
When are you going to apply? Are you an undergrad Spanish major?

my major is spanish literature although i havent decided yet where i want to go and what i want to do graduate school wise.....i should also mention that u-wisconsin and u-michigan have great programs as well

valuable1212, is finance an issue? Most of my friends who study language in grad school come basically from multimillionaire families (well might be exagerrating, but they're well off.) I'm pretty sure anything in California for Spanish (UCs) is ok.

i am far from a millionaire so money counts just a little haha
