Spanish Language Certification Exam for Business

Hello,

I posted this in study abroad and then realized that this would be a better section for my question. Sorry for the repeat.

I am currently a student studying accounting and am also getting a minor in "Commercial Spanish". No one knows what that is. Basically I had to take a few classes for my minor that involved learning massive amounts of vocabulary for business situations, learning about how business is conducted in Spanish speaking countries, and knowing about the economies of Spain and other Latin American countries.

I’m going to Madrid this fall and will be there for nearly a full academic year. I’ll first be finishing up my minor at a university and then working at an unpaid internship for a quarter.

Now here’s my question. I’ve heard from professors and other sources that some sort of “Proficiency in Spanish Business Language” exam exists. After I get back from Madrid, I would like to explore the possibility of taking this mysterious exam.

Does anyone know anything about it? Is it legitimate? Who administers the exam? I assume there is more than one organization that administers exams. Which is the most widely recognized?

Also, is it even useful? Is it something that employers here in the United States know anything about? I’m still in the beginning stages of learning about it. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Really? 300 views and no one has ever heard/seen anything about this Spanish business certification exam? Maybe it’s only a need in European countries…
