Spanish vs Japanese.

I am Korean and fluent in Japanese, Korean and English. (Soph in NJ)

Spanish vs Japanese.

I was wondering which to take. I am not going to take 2 of em.

Spanish - Gonna have to start with Spanish 1.
Japanese - Can start with Japanese 3 Honors (and there's gonna be AP next year). But i think its pretty cheating to take a language which i am fluent in. (Like Spanish speakers taking spanish class).

Plus if i take Spanish, i am actually gonna have to study for it. If i take Japanese, i can save my time for other stuffs.

I want to take whichever look impressive. Please help me.

Thank you.

SATII Japanese: 800
SATII Korean: 800

I think it's kind of dumb for you to take japanese, especially if you're an American, or have been living here for almost all of your life, because that would mean like me taking english in america as my foreign language. But, if your english isn't up to par, this could probably an easier way, to take japanese. But a lot of colleges won't accept sat2's in your native language. choices, choices.

2 b honest I would take japanese, you may not get credit, but if I was an admissions counselor I think that japanese would look much more iteresting, b/c not many ppl take it (compared to alot of ppl taking spanish) plus u will get better grades, and will have more time for e.c.'s,. btw I have a friend who is fluent in spanish, and she took spanish as a language, and i dont think it was looked down upon.
go with Japanese

sorry, when i said credit, i ment the SAT IIs as celebrian25 mentioned.

I would take which ever one I liked the best.

But if you can't really decide, I'd only take Spanish 1 if I was a freshman. otherwise, I'd go with Japanese.

Im a soph. But i guess ill take Spanish for fun.

If I were you, I'd take Spanish. I don't see any downside in being able to put "I speak English,Korean,Japanese AND Spanish" on a job resume...

Plus you live in America. You will be able to help 4 different kinds of people. Most people can only do 1 and some can do 2.

I wish I could speak FOUR languages...

So what if you have to study? You do a ltitle spanish a day. Its not like it will take up that much of your time. It is well worth the 20 minutes a day you may spend practicing.

The person who said it will look better, I think your view is stupid. You can still put that you speak Japanese fluently in your essay. If you put that you already knew how to speak japanese and you took the class, that would be a huge mistake. You slacker. It may not be looked down apon, but you're not helping yourself for anything. You're going to be bored in a crap class. I'm in IB Spanish, okay? AP or whatever Spanish 1 is not gonna be hard.

Good idea.
