Spanish vs. Spanish with Listening

Hello everyone. :)

Someone told me that colleges think it's better if you do the Spanish w/Listening subject test, rather than just Spanish. Is this true?

I was planning to do both the English and Spanish subject tests on the same day in June, but they don't offer the listening test in June.

If I did opt to do the listening test, I'd have to wait till November, and I'd be a Senior.

What should I do? Is it really true that Spanish with Listening looks better?

Without a doubt, it looks better. You should definitely wait until senior year to take the Listening exam.

Sp with Listening is harder, IMO, mostly because the speakers vary in accent, speed, gender, and nationality. I think both tests are hard and the curve is non-existant due to native-speakers and true bilingual speakers taking the test and acing it. So you should be pretty sure of your ability before taking either. Take a lot of practice tests and look at more than one prep book because some of them are A LOT easier than others. I could only find one Listening prep test.

BTW, I took the non-listening version due to scheduling conflicts. I took in in December of my senior year. Also: study.

I'm going to wait so I can take the with listening test. However, I'm biligual and my school suggested this for me so I'm not sure about your personal situation. W/listening does look better though.
