Spanish

What's the minimum score I need on the SAT II Spanish subject test to pass out of the language requirement for the College of Letters and Science.

i think it was a 580 or 590?

What is it with Americans (in general) and not wanting to learn more languages? The requirement is there for a reason. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn something new, Cal offers many languages. People hold much more respect for speakers of multiple languages.

Whatever though, it's your choice. Just remember that taking the easy way out isn't always the best decision.

i totally agree with you 8 1/2, i don't need to take the FL req cause i speak fluently (spanish) took 4 tears, 700 on SAT's AP test and what not, but i'm looking forward 2 choosing a language as an elective, maybe even a non-western language like arabic or farsee or something.
it's a cultural phenom here, because many americans are sheltered, and aren't forced 2 speak any languages. This is diminishing the culture. i'd love 2 see highschool students having 2 speak multiple languages (or even offered multiple languages). I know that in the Netherlands secondary students can't graduate without knowing 5 languages (including dutch).
look forward to your FL requirement.
Goethe said, that a man only values agiants other men by the number of languages he can speak.

Not enough students even know how to speak English properly. And English is the only language anyone in the world needs to know to be successful.

i'm not sure if it's goethe who said that, i know the quote i've seen in spanish, but maybe it wasn't him who said it. but i'm just using it 2 reinforce my rhetoric.
