Sparticus, Gomestar... Anyone in Cornell already

i don't think it's unfair hopeful. Since ED isn't binding, he doesn't gain the advantages of ED for binding people in his app. Cornell knows he might not come if they accept him, so they are probalbly more scrutinizing of his application.

Just because he's unsure doesn't mean cornell's a bad match. That's like saying you shouldn't study anything if you're not sure if you want to major in it.

It works both ways with the "unfair" thing: Cornell isn't need blind for internationals, which puts them at a disadvantage...it all depends how you look at the situation.

im international, and my ED was binding...international all the way from niagara falls canada....a whole 3.5 hr drive from campus, haha, the mail takes 2 weeks to get here, AND i had to take a writing exam the first sunday in o week to show them i could speak english...it was hilarious, a pain tho i went to bed at 430am that night and woke up at 730am to go write the dam thing...let alone the 25 min walk there and back to take the test and tehn go back the next day to get the result...sheesh...i live closer to campus than most ppl i know at cornell

That's kinda weird. I thought they'd assume you speak English if you're from Canada, Britain or wherever that's supposed to be an English-speaking country.

ED is breakable if you cannot pay for school

Or if you're outside the United States' jurisdiction...what could they do, sue him in international court?

Does anyone know if it is in any way made impossible/more difficult to go to a grad school in US after breaking ED?

I don't think grad schools have ED so it wouldn't matter.

I know, but you'd've thought they'd hold a grudge against you for breaking ED undergrad.

who knows...only the school you broke ED with would know about it.

HELLO!!!! I NEVER SAID ED DOES NOT APPLY TO INTERNATIONAL!!!!
U want me to get barred from CC or what!!!! I said ED is binding only for US univs. So even u, an US citizen, could go to Cambridge if you get ED Dartmouth but u can't got to Stanford. GET IT!!!! Shesh! I hope no Cornell admission officer saw this! THANKS A LOT FOR MISUNDERSTANDIN MY QUERY!!!! and almost gettin me debarred

Saprticus, I thought i explained this to u in a private mssg and u still went on abt this ED not bindin for internationals!!!

holy crap take a chill pill, take like 8 of them.

^^^ HaHa. :)

Anyway, Arjun - could you please show me the link that says it's only binding in the US?

oh ya... and I think there's an admissions officer roaming around on the Cornell forum - better watch yourself, they could rescind your admission.

<admissions officer.

Look - they're not gonna debar you for posting incorrect info, which you didnt (probably). At the most, if you abuse the shi t out of someone, you'll probably get kicked out. (damn, I better watch myself)

Don't make me rescind your a$$

Arjun- I remember telling you that also they probably won't sue you for renegading on your ED and I also remember telling you about ETHICS and MORALS. If you agree to something don't renegade on it later. Also it's dodgy and cheap to try loopholes after you've signed the agreement.

And also- you do realise you've stirred enough resentment that when the time comes- an angry RD reject will dob you in to Cambridge, MIT, Stanford and all the RD schools your still applying to. Think how a breach of trust and honesty will reflect on you ...
