<p>My roomate and I (incoming freshmen) are looking to put some bookshelf speakers in our room. I'm curious how strict RA's are about music/how sound-isolating rooms are?</p>
<p>basically, if anything bothers your roommate (in your case a non-issue) or your neighbors or your floor, then it becaomes a problem. </p>
<p>it all depends on the makeup of your floor and the strictness of your RA. mine was pretty laidback and wouldn't do much about anything unless someone directly talked to him about it. the RA below us was super-strict about quietness, and yet, there was this one room where you could hear their music up and down the floor...</p>
<p>basically, in the dorms, the main guidelines are: do what you want, unless it's totally illegal, against school rules, or is rude/bothersome to someone. be respectful and you'll be cool!</p>
