I got my denial(?) letter today. At the very bottom, it reads:

"After reviewing your application, we determined that you are among a special group of students whose eventual enrollment at USC is of great interest to us. As such, we have set aside the final weeks in June, from the 13th to the 30th, for you to meet with a member of our admission staff. Our aim is to counsel you subsequent to your high school graduation and help you establish a personalized transfer plan. Such a plan may assist you in gaining admission to USC as a transfer student within the next two or three semesters."

Can anyone speak to how this process works? Are your transfer acceptance chances increased because of this letter?

I guess they liked you from your application, but decided that your stats were too low? My feeling is that they’d love for you to be at SC, but they want to see if you can handle the college level coursework. Good luck man, from what I’ve seen, SC takes a lot of transfers. Hopefully SC is in your future.

They have offered the Trojan Transfer Plan to legacy applicants not accepted as freshmen, which includes special transfer planning and transfer admissions preference - are you a legacy?

Take it! Go transfer! You’ll be glad you did. Not only is it a cheaper way to knock out the GE’s, but it doesn’t seem as cutthroat to me (minus my major of course) due to the lack of EC’s, SAT’s, ACT’s, AP’s and whatnot. Write a good essay, do well in school and you have a shot.

My daughter got the same letter. My older daughter is currently at USC so maybe it is a legacy thing. My daughter is not sure if she will go. Pepperdine or Northwestern are her 2 she is choosing from right now.
