<p>B’s aren’t dealbreakers with Stanford, they don’t help certainly but stanford seems to be a little more forgiving with the GPA. Your SAT is a tad low, but as long as it’s evenly distributed (no low 600s in any one area) its fine. the SAT II’s help. Your EC’s arent anything really special, bit they are decent. I’m sorry to hear about your mother, that isn’t a hook persay but should absolutely be mentioned somewhere in your application. Don’t use it as an excuse, but you could write a good essay about dealing with that loss. Make sure your rec’s (if you’re close enough to them) mention your mother’s passing, and that you didn’t use it as an excuse. Don’t worry about the b’s your GPA is fine for stanford’s averages.
