My first language is English but I am trilingual. I moved to the U.S in August 2010. I am a citizen of a non-english speaking country.
I have taken the SAT's and the ACT's and got above average scores on them. Am I required to take the TOEFL test? I have already sent in two schools for early action :( I just found out about this and I'm afraid colleges will reject me because I haven't taken the TOEFL tests

I don't know if this makes a difference but I'm in IB English and I've been in English speaking schools since the second grade.

Check the admissions requirements of the colleges you are actually applying to. If you have done all of your secondary education has been in English, you probably won’t need TOEFL scores.

Thanks for the reply.
I’m calling the colleges today and if i have to, I probably have to withdraw all my early action applications. It’s going to suck since I’ve been stressing out over it to get it in time
I’ve talked to some college admissions people and they’re convinced I don’t have to take it. Cross your fingers!

Hello @jellybeans12. If you’re in English A1 or A2 (especially if Higher Level), and will be graduating from a US high school then I think your English ability will be demonstrated through your grades and your SAT/ACT scores. Each college will make their own decisions as to what tests to require, but most top schools if they know anything about the IB, and especially if your SAT CR score or ACT English scores are above average, should be willing to waive the English language proficiency test requirements. Good luck!
