Hey all,

I am new to all of this but I had a question that has been pondering in my mind. I recently applied to ND for RD. Over the course of my high school career by far, I have been fine academically, but in my junior year (Oct. 2004) I came down with mono which had quite a dramatic effect on my grades. It wasn't until this past August I was finally cleared of this illness. I was wondering that if the admissions committee would take this into consideration and not hold this against me in their admissions decision? I explained this in my personal essay but I am just wandering if anyone else had this particular concern... Thanks :)

I have to believe that if you talk about it in your essay it is something they take into account in looking at your application. Notre Dame is very good at looking at the whole application, not just looking at a few numbers and throwing it away if they don't look too good. I would talk to an admissions counselor about your situation but what may be appropriate is a letter from your doctor detailing your illness, but let them tell you that. I do think it will be factored in, however. Good luck!

shoot, I just realized that you are talking in the past tense and I was in the future. Get in touch with admissions ASAP and ask them about if you should send in anything else but regardless I believe they will factor it in.

Thanks! I appreciate it!
