Hi! On WashU’s website it says that students who participate in a WashU special program will be granted a fee waiver. What do they mean by special program? Does Discovery Weekend count? I went to that, so does that mean my application fee would be waived? Thanks!
Yes, we saw this too. I initially thought it meant the summer programs for high school students. However, we received something in the mail yesterday that gave her a fee waiver for applications because she attended the Discovery Weekend. That was so nice! Maybe yours is on the way?
Congratulations! That is awesome.
Now that some people received it and I haven’t, I’m beginning to worry that maybe I won’t get one! I would still apply even if I didn’t get one, but the applications are just very expensive! My family doesn’t qualify for fee waivers based on financial need, but it is still difficult to pay for everything such as application fees to test scores, so receiving a fee waiver would be really helpful.
Maybe you could contact the admissions dept and let them know that you noticed the fee waiver exemption and ask if Discovery Weekend would qualify? Just wanting some info on what qualifies? Might be worth it.
I actually just got it in the mail today! Applying to colleges is still expensive, but every bit you can save helps! Thank you for your help!
Good for you! Yay!!!
