Special Reception at President Sample's House?

My son got an invitation in the mail today for a Parent/Student reception at President Sample's house on Saturday March 28th. Apparently one of his schoolmates got invited too.

Does anyone have any more information about this event?

Thanks.

I just got it today as well. It’s still the 27th for me. Did out-of-staters get it too? I’d assumed it was only for those of us in the area, but perhaps not.

Thanks NonSenescent. We live in Orange County so we are local too. But our invitation is clearly on Saturday the 28th from 1-3pm. So I guess there are multiple dates for this event if you were invited on the 27th.

Ah, nevermind! I thought you meant the date you received it (FEBRUARY 28th) Which is why I thought you were from a different time zone…as in international or something O_O
But yes, mine is on March 28th at the same time
Are you planning on attending?

Got it. Sorry for the confusion : )

Yes, we will be there for sure, in fact we have already RSVP’d. How about you?

Any idea what it is all about? It sounds like another event to encourage applicatants to come to USC.

SC had nearly 36,000 applicants last year. They can easily fill their freshman class, which is targeted at 2600.
I have written before about the Trojan family and the personal relationships which are a source of pride for the university. This is a welcome gesture by Dr. and Mrs. Sample to invite admitted seniors to their home. Also, this occasion can be an opportunity for parents to learn more about the university in a less formal setting and meet potential students and their parents.
You would be amazed to learn how many students Dr. Sample knows by name.

I actually cannot-I leave on a school trip to France/Spain on the very day ): Seems fun, though. My parents have never been to a SC-related event other than just walking around when I went for my admissions interview. Sigh, and it was so conveniently close too!

Hello, again.
Have your parents thought about attending anyway? They will miss having you with them, but it would give your mom and dad the opportunity to meet other parents and possible classmates.

where is the reception??? Where is the house? Is it in Mar Vista?

The house is in San Marino (next to Pasadena).
And no, my parents are actually not interested haha. :frowning: I’m guessing they’ve seen enough of SC with campus tours and whatnot.

He lives in San Marino, not too far from South Pasadena and the Rose Bowl area.

High five, CollegeFrenzy! You know what they say about great minds…

Yes I do. Great minds go to USC!!!

*Great minds go to USC if and when it gives the great minds moolah. D:

Moolah would be nice!

Moolah is always nice :D
