Does anyone know anything about the corporate-sponsored scholarships for Commended students?

Apparently 1,600 students receive such scholarships, but I have never seen info about who sponsors them or what qualifies students to receive them.

Is the info sent only to certain commended students? When my older son made Commended, he didn't get any such info. Are these scholarships a new phenomenon?

You do know that you or your husband has to WORK for the corporation in question, right? It isnt for just anyone.
If yes, just try contacting CB or the company somehow.

These NM scholarships can be sponsored by corporations or by professional organizations. For example, I'm a member of the AIST (Association for Iron & Steel Technology). D1 got their 4x $2000 NM corporate scholarship four years ago.

If you or your husband belong to any such professional orgs, try searching their websites.

When you get it depends on the school. At my S's school, the certificates are awarded at the seniors' awards ceremony in May. At other schools in my area, the kids get the certificates in, I think, the fall, whenever the school gets them.

Some schools make a big deal of them, some don't. I think the awards are worthy of a big deal.
