special talents or skills?

When they say "special talents or skills", how "special" does it have to be? I'm a bit worried that my list is getting too mundane. And how elaborate should I be? Do I need to give a brief description of each?

I'm a bit confused about this section as well. Obviously, there are people with talents like singing, tae kwon do, etc. but is it okay to put quirks/habits, weird things I do/like?

I left it blank and got in. I remember other people on CC last year said that they could fly, or had x-ray vision, etc. and got in. Don't overthink it. My personal reccomendation would be to onl list something if you think it's meaningful, and not just to fill up space.

Can I put creative writing? I've won a few Scholastic Awards if that counts for anything...

If not, I think I'm gonna go with knitting...:D haha

I put in "completing university applications"

I put my extensive knowledge of figure skating trivia and got in. It's definitely a place to show personality.

^ I could put the same thing (it's absolutely true- Christopher Bowman was arrested on my birthday!) but then I'd be copying you, darnit!

oh, I might also add this is where people usually try to put their fluency in foreign languages

Actually, the Georgetown application already has a section where they ask you what foreign languages you are fluent in.

Okay. Nevermind then. Although, some may use it to repot sub-flunecy level skills I think.

So just to clarify--is this a section where it's okay/expected to be somewhat silly? I don't mean unprofessional like "Hey, I'm good at stealing cars" or something like that but can people really put things mentioned in this thread like "flying" and not have an adcom be appalled when reading the app?

i put that i can juggle

esgee, for the record, I wouldn't reccomend it. but then again, I'm a rather conservative person. I'm just reporting what I've heard elsewhere, which for you is now third-hand. You can make your own judgemens as to what's appropriate.

putting something such as "flying" might not be as effective as putting something quirky about yourself that is actually true

I was just wondering if I should write a paragraph or just put down bullet points.
