"...critics who say it would glorify violence in a park frequented by children."

And wouldn't it be just AWFUL if their children would honor a hero holding a gun instead of one holding a basketball, baseball, football etc...Political correctness be D***ed! Would that more children be exposed to true heros with guns like Danny Deitz!!

I'm not going to annapolis... but i just happened on this topic while clicking on stuff. Not to offend anyone, but remember Littleton is where Columbine happened. We in Colorado, especially those in Littleton who lost children that day, are still trying to move ahead of this tragedy. So if that makes any difference... but I do agree that he should be honored- every fallen hero should.

Columbine wasn't a tragedy; it was an attrocity committed by two maniacs. What does it have to do with this?

I guess we shouldn't build a memorial in downtown New York because we are still trying to move ahead there, too? If someone proposed a memorial to all the military dead who have fallen while responding to 9/11, would that be attacked, too?

Just remember that the kind of dolt who opposes this memorial is the same kind of dolt who is trying to turn the WTC memorial into a referendum on everything that has ever been wrong about the United States, rather than a memorial of what happened one terrible September morning.

But hey, they "support the troops", remember?

I am for having a statue for Dietz, but couldn't they have a statue of him in some other pose, like say similar to the Special Warfare Memorial Statue (it shows an Army Special Forces Operator who is holding an M16 in one hand, raise to the sky, with his other hand open as if offering a hand to a child to aid them in crossing a street)? I mean, having a statue of a man, sitting down, holding an automatic weapon is pretty scary.

mini-BUD/S has been gotten rid of, replaced with a SEAL screener held in November and again in the Spring. Expect to take a long swim outside when the air temperature is 40 or so degrees.

You can expect the SEAL screener to last around 24-36 hrs. The screener functions to separate those who are qualified to spend time with a SEAL team during summer training from those who aren't.

How do they do this? That would be telling...

But expect a lot of timed physical evolutions.
