Specialization in Computing?

How helpful is this specialization? Is it worth the time pursuing? (will be interning at a tech company in finance)

If you are trying to get a job even remotely related to computers/IT, then it might be worth the time as you will have an edge over other UCLA students who do not take the specialization.

It shows you have interest in computer related items which some employers like to see in their candidates. Again, it depends on the position you want. If your job doesn’t have anything to do with with computers (other than you use one), you may not be entirely worth it.

I’m also considering studying abroad. Would this probably be a better use of my time than specializing in computing? Which one would strengthen my resume more more?

Studying abroad is another thing you have to factor in to where you want to end up. If you want to end up somewhere IT related, it’s going to matter more that you have the specialization. Otherwise, studying abroad should make you appear more well rounded for anything outside of IT.
