I have two years left of school and due to being undecided my first year and a half I have all of my pre-reqs done and only the rest of my Che classes. Due to this I need a specialization with my Chemical Engineering degree in order to stay a full time student. I can pick from the list of Biochemical, Bioenergy, Biomedical, Environmental, Food Science, and Polymer Science concentrations. I live in Michigan and would like a job around the area or in Chicago or Colorado. I think my best options are either biomedical or food science as they would be the most interesting to me but I am not really sure. I can't find what areas have jobs in certain concentrations. Any help about what areas would have what jobs and what concentration would be the most beneficial for pay, enjoyment, and interest.
As far as my personality goes I want a job that is somewhat different and is not the same cookie cutter job everyday. I am interested in everything, I love the outdoors and the city. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do the specialization you enjoy the most.
Notice I did not say “the specialization you are best at” (although the two usually go hand in hand).

You do not want to get a job and realize 5 years later that you are bored and don’t like your job anymore.

Okay I will have to research more in depth what the jobs are like for each. My dad mentioned a math minor and since math comes to me very easy I have given it some thought. I don’t know if it would be more beneficial to get a specialization or a minor in math.
