Specialized H.S

How would going to a specialized high school, such as this one, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_of_Allied_Health_%26_Science, affect one’s chances in getting into a top notch university, such as BC?

Affects it postively or negatively?...Nill. BC is flooded with applications from highly prestigious high schools (as well as down to earth schools) so they won't be going gooh gah over it. However, they take the environment of the school you're coming from into consideration. What that mean is since you going to a school that offers many opportunities to succeed, they will examine how you utilize those resources and how are you compared to students from your shool and students from similar schools.

what about a school like this?
Bronx High School of Science - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What about it?
Bronx High is one premier public high school in America, but how has you performed in it? I have classes with kids from Phillip Academy and Milton Academy everyday, but I also have classes with kids from Omaha high school, they all seem pretty bright when they answered the questions and more talented than me. So the high school you go to isn't exactly a selling point unless you work hard in it. Now if you want to know if a kid ranked 50th out of 300 at Revere High would get in versus the same rank with the same size at Bronx High, then it would have to depend on the transcript and the EC package the student brings to the table. 50th at Bronx would probably get in, but not because of Bronx High but because of the student. I remember last winter the admission staff was going crazy over this girl from Oklahoma, but it had nothing to do with the school she was going to.

I posted my stats in another thread. I think I did somewhat well despite horrible circumstances in my life.

collegehopeful I can't help but bring up this point: you have been here two years after I have, but have posted A LOT more than I do, you started nine times more threads than I do, and all of it within seven months. Don't you feel that you could have spent your time doing other things to improve your chance than here on CC. I initially went on here to seek answers on a few questions and discuss stuffs, but never spending that much time.
