Specialty Housing

Im a Freshman who was placed in the Japanese House on Bay state road. Are the specialty houses apartment style with kitchen/bathroom? Or was I deceived </3

They're brownstones. You can read about them here:

Student Union - Backdoor at BU

well yea.. I understand that, I'm asking if they are equipped with kitchens/private bathrooms, like apartments.

Some brownstones on Bay State have apartment-style dorms; others don't. You can call the office of housing and ask. Or you can see how much you're being charged--apartment-style dorms cost more than regular rooms.

"YOU CAN READ ABOUT THEM HERE"

...means that you can read about them there. Funny how that works. The exact information you just mentioned is on that site, a click away. Really, it's not difficult. Or yeah, just give them an old-fashioned call.

This might be really difficult for you to understand, but try it anyway. I READ the site, it did NOT answer my question, which is why I'm asking here, where someone might know. Can you understand that? If you don't know the answer, don't bother replying. Please. Yes, I understand some brownstones are apartment style and some are not, k thanks, got that. I'm asking if anyone knows if the specialty houses are apartment style or not, if you can read, and I don't expect that you can, you'd understand that it's not specified on the site.

Not every specialty house is the same.

Here's how you can find your answer:

Call the Office of Housing; it'll only take 5 minutes, and they'd be able to give you a definite answer.

Or...this would only take 5 seconds..check your account on StudentLink and see what you're being charged and then compare it to the BU housing rates. Boston University Housing

Thank you for the site, I guess I'm in a room in a suite with another person.

"The brownstones offer an almost-apartment type of living"

Either I really can't read, or you have very selective eyesight. The specialty housing doesn't make you THAT special... sorry :-(

I suggest you broaden your limited knowledge by reading on the subject, when you'll notice there are brownstone apartments on bay state, and dorm style brownstones on bay state. Due to lack of clarity, I figured I'd ask on here, if you're going to act like an *******, at least have the decency to know what you're talking about first.

Hi Col, congrats on your upcoming matriculation at BU, and your lucky assignment to housing on Bay State Road! The housing on Bay State Road differs not only from house to house but from room to room within houses. Some rooms are within suites, others are rooms in true apartments with kitchens and private baths, and others are standard double or single dorm style rooms. I'm not sure what the situation is at the Japanese House but my understanding is that the language houses are quite nice. And yes, since apartments cost more than dorm rooms, checking out your room and board charges can provide an idea of what's what. Of course, your best bet is to call and ask about your specific room. Have fun on moving day, and enjoy BU!
PS: Hey Qriz, no need to get so snarky, ya know? And have fun at BU too!

This is a different question, but when you're writing down your address, do you put the box number above or below the street name?

Ty for the info :D do you also happen to know if suites are equipped with kitchens and bathrooms? If you don't know then it's fine, I'm moving in tomorrow, so not too long until I find out anyhow :P

Regarding the question above me, I'm pretty sure it goes above/before the address.

I keep writing it like it shows in the Student Link, but when I fill out forms, it asks for street name first and then for box number under it. I just didn't want it to cause my mail to not be delivered. ^_^''

Nickel Xenon>> I've done it both ways, and my mail's been delivered either way.

colapptime>> If you're in a suite, I think all the rooms in your suite will usually share one bathroom. Otherwise, you'll have bathrooms that the whole floor uses...but I'm pretty sure each suite will have its own. You won't have a kitchen in your suite, but maybe your house has a kitchen that everyone can use.

Thanks Strawberry. I'll keep that in mind.

colapptime,
im actually an ra on upper bay state, and the japanese house is included in that area. none of the upper bay rooms are apartment style (kitchen, bathroom, etc) except the ra rooms. the most youll have, if it is in fact a suite, is a bathroom to share with your roommates. you should also know this because, unless you didnt settle your student account, youre paying for a meal plan. trust me, as a freshman, you don't want to be cooking. meal plan is the way to go.
