I was browsing some sites of some med schools I was interested in, and I noticed that some of them specify that you have to have LOR's from science teachers who taught you in a course. I was wondering if a LOR from a research supervisor who is a science professor counts because in my school, research for credit is a course with its own number. Or should I just get letters from standard courses like orgo or genetics?

Usually med schools want at least 2 letters from your classroom instructors because they want the letter to address your academic performance in the context of other students the professor has taught during his/her career. (IOW< they want the prof to rank you.)

You can certainly ask for a LOR from a research supervisor, but it would function more as a third or supplemental letter rather than a primary LOR.
