Speculate with me if they will revoke me..

So, i think i might get revoked from UCLA, below is the email i have send them, now lets all speculate on if you think this will get me revoked.

I have a potential problem that could be in violation of my provisional admission contract that i would like your help with.

I recently found out that for the 2006 Spring-Interssesion i withdrew from my Logic class too late and thus will have an additional W on my spring transcript.
(4-week interssesion classes started on 1/03 and i withdrew on 1/04---i couldn't attend because i was out of the state.)

My spring transcript currently looks like this:

Grossmont College:

Logic 3 units W (UC-Transferable)
English Lit 3 units W (UC-Transferable)
Russian 2 5 units W (Not Transferable b/c taken after Russian 4)

Personal Dev 3 units __ (Not Transferable)
Admin of Jus. 3 units __ (UC-Transferable)
Human Bio 3 units __ (UC-Transferable

Cuyamaca College:

Intermediate Calc 4 units __ (UC-Transferable)

Due to this additional W in Grossmont College i wil be placed on Lack of Progress Probation for Spring '06 because i will have more than 50% of my attempted units with a W.

My councelor advised me that in most cases Lack of Progress probation is not viewed as bad academic standing and that this should not affect my admission, however i would like verification of this.

I also plan on attending summer school, and after the summer semester will be off the Lack of progress probation, but i am not sure if the summer term will be reviewed when considering academic standing.

If Lack of Progress Probation does not affect my admission than would i be able to drop my Human Biology class since it is not required for my IGETC or for my major prep? (This is a late start class that has not begun yet.)

Or, do i need to register for another late start class in order to avoid lack of progress probation? My reservervation about registering for an additional class is that i do not need any additional classes, nor do i need the biology class, also i will be going over the 70-transferable unit max and will only be getting subject credit for this additional Biology course.

Please advice of the best course of action in this situation.

Let me know if you need more info to make a more accurate speculation.

Thanks

Better start looking into Cal States... ;) jk

I don't know much, but I like to think there is a compassionate admissions officer out there. right?

damn, that's a lot of dubs! I have like 2 myself and a fail on the P/F from my first year but the UC schools are diff. I heard someone say she had 5 Ws and still got into UCLA. She said they just cross out the Ws. Maybe you don't have much to worry about? Sorry, I dunno to much about the UCs.

i have 19 w's all together, and aside from the logic one they know of 18ws.

And i know who my admin officer is , she has been nice so far, i already emailed about not being able to complete planned coursework for summer b/c the classes had time conflicts and she said it will not create any problem.

anyhow, i dontknow.

Some people have told me not to evne email admission

i havent emailed them that yet, its like a rough draft, i am still contenplating.

You hold all the cards. It would take compelling ****-ups to have your admissions rescinded. In your case, you're still a full time student enrolled in 4 classes. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yes well i would much rather drop the stupid bio class since i dont need it.

ITs a waste of my time and energy.

did you report it to admissions yet by filing out the report change form (or whatever it's called)?

Please do run spell check and grammar and read aloud. You need all the redeeming qualities possible as you don't look like a solid academic transfer. Why all the Ws?

i never send that email, i send a diffrent one, it sounds much better.

No responce yet.

I have W's b/c of family issues.

This is the Actual email i send:

Dear Madam/Sir :

I am writing you to ask for advice on the issue that concerns my
admission to UCLA.

Recently I found out that my withdrawal from Logic class in 2006
Spring-Interssesion was too late and thus will result in an additional W
on my Spring transcript . Due to some personal problems I had to leave
the state for two weeks and could not attend Logic class that I had
registered for. Four weeks interssesion classes started on 1/03 and I
withdrew on 1/04, and under normal circumstances that would not have been
considered a late withdrawal.

Currently my Spring 2006 transcript looks like this:

Cuyamaca College:
Intermediate Calculus 4 units __ (UC-Transferable)

Grossmont College:
Personal Development 3 units __ (Not Transferable)
Administration of Justice 3 units __ (UC-Transferable)
Human Biology 3 units __ (UC-Transferable

Logic 3 units W (UC-Transferable)
English Literature 3 units W (UC-Transferable)
Russian 2 5 units W (Not Transferable b/c
taken after Russian 4)

I was informed by Grossmont College that due to this additional W I
would be placed on "Lack of Progress Probation for Spring '06". The
reason for that is that I would end up having 50% of my attempted units
with a W.

Also, my counselor advised me that in most cases Lack of Progress probation
is not viewed as bad academic standing and that this should not affect
my admission to UCLA, however I would like you to verify whether that is
an accurate assumption.

If Lack of Progress Probation does not affect my admission then would I
be able to drop my Human Biology class since it is not required for my
IGETC or for my major prep? This is a late start class that has not
begun yet.

Otherwise, do I need to register for another late start class in order to
avoid lack of progress probation? The matter of utmost concern for me,
obviously, is to ensure that the admission process to UCLA is not
affected negatively, and I will follow the course of action that you find
necessary. Having said that, I have some reservations of practical nature
regarding registering for an additional class in Spring 2006.
Technically speaking I do not need any additional classes because I will
be going over the 70-transferable unit maximum , nor do I need the
biology class, for which I will only be getting subject credit.

Thank you for you consideration in this important matter.

Sincerely,

i think you will be fine Malishka. these admissions counselors (like i've seen from berkeley anyway) have compassion. i'll give you 2 examples a little later.

didnt they tell you what you needed to finish when you got your admissions packet? my community college doesnt do lack of progress probation.. is that something only your CCC does? i've never heard of it until now.. i doubt the UCs are playing by that rule.

to simplify a long story.. my friend got into Haas for Fall 2006 (which is quite an accomplishment). she double-checked her transcripts 3 weeks ago and noticed that at the end of spring 2006, she would only have 57 units which totally violates #2 on the "Conditions of Admissions" form.
2. You must complete at least 60 UC-transferable semester (90 quarter) units by the end of the spring 2006 term. Immediately contact your admissions officer if you will not be able to meet this condition.
granted, this missing 3 units is just any elective.. it couldve been sociology, philosophy, whatever. she just needed 3 units, and it wasnt a major prereq. she called but no one answered, and wrote a letter explaining that she overlooked it. anyway, the counselor called her back and said it was fine, so she's taking an online 3 unit course in some useless subject during summer. that's getting away with manslaughter, and is evidence that they have some sense of forgiveness.

as for me, i have a grade discrepancy from my original app. i called them and said "hey that grade's not gonna be the same as i originally reported" they said it was fine. of course there's more detail to the situation but they were cool with that.
