<p>im running for junior v.p. of nhs and tommorow we are supposed to give a short speech on why we want to be it and why they should vote for us etc. at the meeting...i dont want to make a list of all my academic/community achievements to date because i dont think it would go over very well..any tips? i have no idea how to start it</p>

<p>well in that case, you should really ask yourself, "Why DO I want to be vp?" and "Why SHOULD they vote for me?". As for listing qualifications, you should probably only talk about the ones you feel most strongly about and the ones that you feel would qualify you for the position. </p>
<p>A nice one that people always do is write a speech on a piece of paper, and then they go up there and rip it up and talk about "I'm not going to bore you with some redundant old speech..."</p>
<p>haha....good idea..about the ripping up the speech....the speech probably isnt goign to change much, cuz everyone pretty much has their minds made up, unless my speech is completely horrid, i dont think it will really do anything</p>

yeah so just gave my speech.......that was embarrasing..my speech wasnt particularly bad, it was just that the kid before me was reallly good...just made it funny...adn mine ...wasnt...i think i pretty much lost ....i know i got my freinds adn a randompeple i dont know cuz i saw soem people s ballots...but i pretty much lost all the people i didnt know cuz he was funny, and i was sentimental....ugh.....next uear then..but i have to give the speech tommmorow agaoin because there are two meeting with different people...shoyuld i stick with it or make it different?</p>
