How do you recommend rehearsing for presentations in college? I will be staying the dorms and this is one thing I’m wondering about, because I don’t love public speaking and I rehearse extensively before every presentation? Any tips? I feel like it’d be awkward to rehearse in my room with my roommates in the room? How have you gone about doing this? Thanks in advance.
Find an empty class room or study room.
That’s not a bad idea at all. Will definitely take that into consideration. Thanks for the input.
The odds are pretty good that there will be some times when your roommate is in class-- or at the gym, or hanging out with friends-- when you can have the room to yourself.
And start to think about getting to the point where you don’t need such intensive prep to give a presentation. They’re scary, I know. But once outside the college bubble, the reality is that you probably won’t have endless hours to prep… start to get comfortable with a bit less prep.
Video tape yourself, or have a friend video tape your speech. Then watch it. This can be very helpful!
Definitely. I will need to prepare by accomplishing more in less time. Thanks.
Actually, how about getting your roommates to listen to you practice (just once!) and ask them to give you feedback? Or ask them to be (mildly) distracting so that you’re prepared for the pressure of a live presentation in class?
