Ha- for BC, I’m wondering more about the Honors Program. I know nothing is certain, but my two older siblings who go there both got in with significantly lower SATs and GPAs. There are other incentives for me to pick BC over Dartmouth/Brown, and the Honors Program would complement them nicely. That said, do you think I’ll stand out of the applicant pool enough to receive that honor?

BC - In/matchy
Brown - high match/low reach
Dartmouth - low reach/medium reach
(By the way, those two schools are complete opposites. Any reasoning for them?)

@rickscott, you’re right, they are complete opposites. Just comparing the D-Plan with Brown’ open-curriculum, it becomes pretty obvious. The thing is, they both have things I like and dislike. I like Dartmouth’s location (IE the mountains, as I love to ski and hike), I like it’s undergrad focus, and I loved the campus and the people. But I dislike the frats (they’re really turning me off) and the distance from a metro area. With Brown, I love the location and, of course, the open-curriculum… as it will give the flexibility I want. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I’m thinking Brown > Dartmouth…

My DS also came down to choosing between Dartmouth and Brown for ED. He also loves the outdoors and Dartmouth having cabins and a lodge through the App trail and it’s own ski hill were big attractions. He loved Brown’s open curriculum but not Providence.

In the end he chose Dartmouth because of the D Plan. In talking to many grads of both he saw the D Plan was an excellent tool at a time when even top college grads have trouble getting good jobs. Dartmouth kids get outstanding internships being available fall, winter and spring. They stand apart in the newly graduated pool.

I think your obviously in at BC and a pretty good chance at honors.

Brown and Dartmouth are low reaches, I think you stand a pretty good chance. Everything looks great and they will both love your a 3 sport athlete. I would be kinda surprised if you didn’t get into either.
