Spending Money

I'm going to be a freshman in a Boston university (not telling which one) ;). I've been to Boston a lot, and I do spend quite a bit of money when I have a day trip, but that includes the train from and to Boston. How much on average do you think a college student will be spending in a big city? I'm getting the unlimited bus/subway fare for $59, because I'll definitely be using the T a lot.

But other than that, what should I account for?

I agree with PaulandArt. If you don’t go out or do anything, you won’t spend much. But if your food is mostly covered, you don’t HAVE to spend much on anything.

Most of my spending money goes to concert tickets and drugs, in all honesty, lol. And the occasional food off-campus. I don’t really buy clothes or anything, but that’s because when I go home my dad takes me shopping. If you drink, try getting a bunch of alcohol with friends. I only pay $5 every other weekend and we always have more than enough, it’s a really great system.

Well i live in MA. You probably wont need that much. Alot of things here are discounted for college students and it really does depend on your interests.

I’m not a drinker/clubber for the most part, so I don’t think that’ll affect me.

Do you guys spend a ton on books every semester?
