if my son has a meal plan and doesn’t have a car how much spending money is needed. Thoughts please
If he has a meal plan, then he will have $1500 in dine-in-dollars which can be used in the dining hours and in the markets. He will also have $500 in bevo bucks which can be used at here: http://utdirect.utexas.edu/hfpublic/pubVendorList.WBX
If your son is living in one of the south dorms (jester, san jac, etc) there is a bus that can take him to HEB and back for grocery shopping.
We gave my daughter $250 a month which comes out to $62.50 a week. I don’t know if that was stingy or generous, but it was all we could afford. She did have prescriptions to fill that she needed money for. She ended up getting a job and working 10 hours a week to help with spending money.
