So I'm spending Spring Break at Berkeley. I usually work at a library or the Free Speech Movement cafe, but as I understand they are all going to be closed for the next nine days.

My question is - where can I find a good place which isn't too crowded, and where I can lie back on a comfy chair or sofa with my netbook for hours on end? I.e. what's the best cafe here for this sort of thing.

Second, anything of note going down? (I guess not, since most people are away, but nonetheless...)

Sack’s coffee down on College/Derby is an awesome place to work. The lighting’s very similar to that of FSM, there’s plenty of outlets, ample space, and open late.

Other than that, you can even try Berkeley Public Library or even head towards the city.

BPL’s often full of hobos though, and has no comfy sofas that I’ve noticed…I would try a bunch of cafes (seeing as you like FSM, which I don’t since it seems crowded often) and see what you like.

sacks is pretty good, imo

Thanks, I’ll try out Sacks today.

Tried it out, an OK place.
I think I’ll stick with Brewed Awakening.
