Hey guys. I have a dilemma and I just want to hear you guys' opinion about it. So, this semester, I moved out of the residential hall, so technically I can stay over in Berkeley during Winter Break. But I was under the impression that Berkeley is a complete GHOSTTOWN during the holiday season. I was wondering if that's true?? Is there anything to do around here during Winter Break? Any productive/educational opportunities such as internship and stuff?

I would actually love to go home during Winter break. But home to me is HONG KONG. it can be quite expensive if I am flying twice a year for both winter and summer break given my current financial situations.

Currently, I am thinking of just hibernating alone in Berkeley during Winter and going back home during summer. But I am really open to any suggestion. Thank you very much in advance!!!

It is not a ghost town - it is definitely much quieter but there are plenty who stay in the area rather than travel. In addition, San Francisco remains open during winter break - really there is plenty to do, just no classes or formal club meetings.

Or, travel within the U.S. like I did. Cheaper, loads of fun, and avoiding the “berkeley ghost town”. Although I think it’s not really a ghost town.

I stayed there for winter break. Unless you have friends around the area, it is pretty much a ghost town. I mean all the shops and stuff are still opened but there’s not really anybody on the streets, except for hobos who are always there.
