Sperry Topsiders

So, I just bought my first pair of Sperry Topsiders. They are grey with a little bit of black patent leather. I was wondering what colors and styles would look best with them. Any ideas are welcome. Just so you know, I am a female.

LOVE! Crimsonivy, you’re kind of my new favorite person. I live in Socal and NO ONE knows what sperry’s are and it makes me sad. I’m very east coastish/ preppy. I think sperry’s go with just about everything, especially because you got such neutral colors.

You are also my new favorite person too! I’m basically the biggest prep ever. I have the brown leather sperry’s and they go with everything. Yours will probably match with most things too. I think blues, reds, and greens, would all look good, but I’d refrain from pinks and oranges.

Yay, georgie 33, another preppy Ccer!!! Hopefully this thread will attract preps!

I think there are more aesthetically pleasing brands than Sperry.

Maybe it’s because I hate patent leather, but whatever.

Ew, Topsiders. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t look stupid in them, especially since the people that wear them pair them up with J. Crew and Polo and such.

At one point in my lifetime, I rocked brown leather Sperry’s boat shoes with my school uniform and a few of my Brooks Brothers and Lacoste polos. It was a phase.

If I went back in time and met myself then, I think I’d shoot myself.

I’m keeping the cashmere sweaters, though.

I can’t imagine that there are many people who’d disagree with this sentiment.

It’s surprising what people admit to online.

I love topsiders! :D

^^Whats wrong with those brands?

keeponreaching, you sound just like me. I am from california too and I love the east coast! I totally agree with you about it being very sad that no one here seems to know about Sperry’s.

Georgie33,you are also one of my new favorite people. Go preps!

I’m from new england and I would never live anywhere else.
I like the east coast lifestyle

I was in new england for a month and absolutely loved it. I loved everywhere from the history surrounding the city of Boston to the fabulous beaches of Maine. I hope to live on the east coast someday.

Sperry’s and Polo is so nice Basajaun, what the hell are you talking about?

Everything those companies make looks the same, which makes all of the people that wear those clothes look nearly identical. It’s awful.

Maybe if you pay attention to the way people look in their face and figure, you wouldn’t worry about it? It’s not all the same anyway.

I too would like to congratulate you on your purchase of a wonderful pair of shoes. I find my Sperrys to be the most comfortable shoes I own. I have the original brown ones, and I find that that go with anything. Dress up, dress down, any belt, pants, shorts, they all work.

I love my sperrys! I’m definitely not your typical preppy girl. I cannot afford J.Crew and Brooks Brothers and what not. I do most of my shopping at old navy, forever 21, and wherever I can find a great sale. I actually owned the knockoff sperrys ($35 at rack room) and they looked identical to the real ones. Although a couple months later I caved and bought the real sperrys. I love them! :)

They go with a lot of clothes and I’m not really much for wearing skinny jeans with my converses/vans (because it just looks a bit too skater for me) so my sperrys are great for that.

Thank you for the ideas!

lol I seriously did not know what this thread was about, until I went sailing today like I do every week, and these preppy kids from St. Lawrence University were wearing them

basajun…really? you sound a hell of a lot more shallow than you’re trying to make people who wear certain brands out to be. it’s actually pretty ridiculous.

i LOVE my topsiders. they’re really comfy, practical, and they’ve stood up to wear and tear extremely well. I like the way they look, too.
