Spoken Latin

My D is interested in learning to speak latin. The only program that I know of is Princeton. I think Cornell and University of Kentucky offers it at the graduate level. Currently she is interested in majoring in psychology and minoring/double major in latin or classics.

She should contact the classics departments directly, and ask about their teaching approach. Many will have some level of speaking in their classes, which won’t necessarily be reflected in the course titles.

Thanks, I will have her contact the schools on her list.

For schools notably strong in classics in general, College Transitions offers a “Best Colleges for Classics” list (separated here by type for ease of viewing):

Amherst College
Carleton College
College of the Holy Cross
Davidson College
Hamilton College
Kenyon College
Macalester College
Oberlin College

Barnard College
Bryn Mawr College

Brandeis University
Brown University
Cornell University
Columbia University
Georgetown University
Harvard University
Johns Hopkins University
Princeton University
Stanford University
Tufts University
University of Chicago
University of Pennsylvania
Yale University

College of William and Mary
Ohio State University
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
University of Wisconsin – Madison

I think you can get it as an undergrad at Cornell and UKY too. It’s really a matter of who the faculty are and what courses they teach.
U Mass-Boston is also a center of spoken Latin, I believe.

Also consider this list of universities that embrace spoken Latin. You can contact the classics departments to ask them individually.
