Sport Management

is anyone going into sport mangagement? anyone hear anything about the program good or bad?

It's quite good - lotsa sports @ Delaware to take advantage of. You have to apply to it once you get there however.

A faculty admission committee for Sport Management will make decisions on acceptance based on the following criteria:

* Successful completion (minimum grade C-) of the following Freshman year courses:
o HESC 155 – Personal Health Management: An Approach for a Lifetime
o HESC 202 – Foundations of Sport Management
o ENGL 110 – Critical Reading and Writing
o MATH
o Psychology or Sociology
* Minimum GPA of 2.7
* Completion of appropriate application with essay
* Demonstration of aptitude and commitment and understanding for career orientation.

**Fulfilling the requirements does not guarantee admittance to this major. Space is very limited and admission is very competitive.

Any current comments about this program? My son got accepted to the school and will be in the “interest group” since as was previously stated you need to apply after your freshman year. He also got into the honors program. I will say that one thing that seems strange is that it is not a business major, but they do seem to get you lots of hands-on experience as a result of where the program is located.

Thanks…

So, my son got big news about the Sport Management major at Delaware this week – it’s moving to the business school as of the spring semester (this is apparently not officially announced yet). I think this is great news, you really want to have a good business background if you’re going into this field. He was planning to try and double major in some business-related field, this will make it much easier (or unnecessary).
