anyone know anything else about the program? it sounds really interesting

Our school's UMich regional admissions officer came to speak with us a couple of weeks ago. She said that if you want to be accepted into the School of Kinesiology, you MUST have some background in in it (i.e. shadowing, volunteering, research, etc. dealing with it). She said it is extremely selective...you can see that in A2Wolves6's post.

It is very selective. I had first hand experience scouting NFL draft prospects, played varsity sports, volunteered for the school's athletic department, wrote sports articles for sites, and even got some recommendations from a UM assistant athletic director and UM coach! And I was denied admission. I was in-state with a 3.69 GPA and a 29 ACT. Both parents were legacies.

I know 3 other students on this site who had similar or better stats than me. Don't apply to this program unless your stats are 1350 SAT/31 ACT, 3.8+ GPA. You won't get in, and they will make you wait until July to find out that you have been rejected.

You have to apply as a freshman? you can't apply after freshman or soph year?

You can, but if you indicate on your application that you are interested in SM, it means you are applying for that program. I would highly recommend that you put "undecided" on your application if you are planning on applying to UMich and are a borderline candidate, or even apply for the summer session (a back route to getting into the university).
