I'm trying to apply for a sport scholarship to a DI, I live oversea and there are no recruters to come over an dlook at are sport program. My parents didn't come to my games to there is no way for me to make a highlight tape. Can any one help me by telling me if there any way for me to apply for one.

Ask your coaches to help film you during your games and etc. Also, keep in close contact with those D1 scouts and etc. Good Luck =)

Sorry to say, but without a video of you in action or the recruiters seeing you in person, I would doubt you hold out much of a chance for a D1 or D2 scholarship. Even D3 coaches who can't give out scholarships like to see video of their prospects. I don't know how they do it overseas, but for our high school sports, like football, the team videos the game anyway, so our coach passed on some highlights of our son. I would check with your coach. What sport are you looking at? Is it an individual sport where you've done any kind of competition at the national or international level? That might help if you could show you stand out at that level, but otherwise, unless they have something to gauge your skills against, it will be an uphill challenge. The only other possibility is that once you are here and have been with the program a year and have proven your worth, you might be offered a scholarship for a future season.

I'm looking at playing soccer, but at this point I don't know because where I live we don't do the team tape thing. I would have had tapes to send but my parents are in the military so They wern't ever able to make it to any of my game. and what were you say about beening in the program a year or something like that. could you explain indepth please.
Thank you

What I meant by "being in the program a year" is that you would go ahead and apply to the college of your choice. You would NOT have a scholarship the first year, but you could HOPE that once you went as a walk-on and tried out for the soccer team that the coaches would be able to view you in person and would be willing to give you at least a partial scholarship. The down side of the situation is that they may figure you're already attending and will be part of the team, so they'll use those scholarship funds to recruit someone new.

I'm afraid you're in a very tough spot...

First understand that men's soccer at the D1 level has less than 10 scholarships to give among a roster of roughly 25 players. Most are split up and or combined with merit scholarships. Scholarships are not guaranteed for your entire time in school, they are year to year.

You could walk on, but your chances are very slim to almost none. Not trying to be mean, but you've got to be fantastic to make it the way you would and quite frankly, if you were that good, a pro clubside in the country you're in would already be talking to you.

for starters I am a female tryin to play DI soccer
and second of I live in Okinawa we don't get recruters over here so it kind of hard for me to find a school that will sign me form over here.I am good not great but no one is everybody needs a little work. now if yo uhave any useful an dvery helpful information get at me
thank you

Women's soccer scholarships are also limited, I think 12. Try the NCAA clearing house and register as a player. I think it costs about $27 and it allows your information to be seen by NCAA coaches. You'll enter all the information (acedemics, atheletics, etc..) and any NCAA coach can pull the information up.

Sorry if I hit a nerve, I'm really not trying to be mean, but you have a tough road to travel. Do you have any idea of where you'd like to go to school at? Have you looked into community colleges?

Is there anyone Stateside you could live with for a year and play there?

You have to be very good these days to get a scholarship male or female. Most of the kids that get fulls or 3/4 or 1/2's are long time club players with Olympic Developement Program history. In other words exceptional players. I haven't seen you play, I wouldn't know if you fit in this category or not.

Please understand helpful information may also be something you don't want to hear.. but it would be truthful. Try the clearinghouse, look up some D1 or D2 teams and read player bios, see if you fit the moldel.
