ok so im all over the board with what i want to do with my life and no one seems to be able to answer my college questions! so i figured i should turn to the most college opinionated people in the world: the CC surfers!

i want to major in Economics because i love business and its a pretty broad field that doesn't limit you like other business fields. but im also interested in sports administration because i love sports. i also love the science side of sports. and a lot of colleges don't offer sports administration yet. so here it goes: is it crazy to major in Economics, minor in exercise science, and then get an MBA in sports administration/management (which surprisingly a lot of schools do have!)? i just don't want to major in sports management in undergrad because if money doesn't come around and i don't go to grad school i feel like that could be limiting (considering my indecisiveness). does anyone else have any other ideas??
thanks!

Want to work in business? Want to work in sports?

Sports Agent :)

My main man Jerry McGuire really inspired me to pursue business throughout middle school, and eventually high school. Took every single business class available to me. Being a sports agent really gets you involved in the business side, clearly, and the sports side, by working with athletes, coaches, etc.

And, as Jerry said, “SHOW ME THE MONEYYYYYYYYYY”

…Or you can work on the show Sports Science :)

annabez - I think your plan makes sense. A lot of kids are interested in sport mgmt - but I’m not sure there are many jobs available - particualrly with just an undergarduate degree. So, a plan of majoring in business or economics, perhaps with a sports-related minor sounds sensible. Followed by a masters program or law school - that’s my son’s plan. He originally looked at the sports mgmt major program at Michigan. We learned that the majority of the graduates were going to law school after wards - so clearly - the undergraduate degree alone was not enough. Keep in mind the importance of a related summer job or internship to round out your resume.

Hey, since you are not completely set on what you want as of yet I’d recommend you to stick with an economics major, and yeah definitely feel free to minor in sports admi/exercise sci. to see if that’s what you want to do. Your mind is likely to change, so I’d stick with a major that can apply to more than just one field. You are guaranteed a lot of jobs including sports jobs with economy, but you’re not guaranteed as many jobs with an exercise sci. degree.

I am a senior in high school going to graduate in a matter of weeks. Accepted into UMass for sports management, I was thinking about getting a MBA after a sports management undergrad degree or even double major with some sort of business related major.
