Random question I know..

I have a friend who went to Princeton (graduated there '05). I know he's smart but when I compare him to the stats here..... it kind of surprises me that he got in.

He DID however, play football there all four years. I know ivies don't give money to athletes, but does it help getting in?

The standard is 1150 and don't be a retard for Nationally ranked athletes.

About 1350 for State-level athletes and be average in school, in general.

This applies to most Ivies too.

um, do you speak english?

you mean to go to an ivy if you play a sport you only need 1150 SAT and average GPA in HS?

Yes. That's what I'm saying. You have to be a Nationally ranked athlete however. For instance, this year a friend of mine who is amazing at Lacrosse and ranked in the top 10 recruits for the graduating class of 2010, was told he had to get an 1150 and an 80+ average to go to Princeton. He did so and was accepted. The year before that, a friend of mine in a grade higher was the 3rd best runner in the nation and was thrown offers from Harvard, Yale, etc. He opted to go to American University for free but the handwritten letters were there...he found the Ivy leagues too elitist for his own taste is all. This year again, 1350 SAT for a 90ish State-ranked Lacrosee player...Harvard.

If you ever have a choice between doing something to improve yourself scholastically or athletically, and you're not failing school and you're not half bad at sports, improve yourself athletically. It's the best way to get into college short of being a donor's son/daughter or a gay-jewish-native american-woman.
