Sports and Academics for College Life? impossible is nothing?

Talking about NCAA Division I Mens Soccer. Could I enter into lets say chemical engineering at UCSB or another UC and be part of the Mens Soccer Team? I really have no idea how these things work. plz help!

To add to the question. So I get accepted by UCSB for chemical engineering, Could I tryout for the Soccer Team ... or does the UCSB coaches have to like draft you from HS?

Bumppppppppp

Nothing precludes you from trying out – I’m sure the coaches would welcome that. If you make one of the teams, it’s up to you to judge how to balance the work. I knew quite a few athletes who took very rigorous majors when I was at an HYP school.

YOu should email the coach and let him know of your intentions. He may want you to send video or stats (if you’re potentially “recruitable”). Otherwise, he’ll give you info on the procedure about try outs. Good luck to you

My D graduated from NU with an engineering degree, along with Eric Peterman, who played B1G football for NU - so yes, it can be done.

And my D played Club Rugby and played and travelled to Ireland, Germany England, and Scotland. She thinks her sport helped her stay grounded, and teammates are always around to give you support, even if they can’t do the problem sets.

And face it… you don’t have to be an Einstein to play soccer, just able to run around overcome boredom while someone is trying to score a damn goal. So, since it’s only soccer you play, not a REAL sport, why not give it a try?

Thanks for the knowledge!!

@nuggradad - hahaha really??? Did you just say that? All you need is the ability to run? Oh my. You are soooo wrong.
