sports for fun at berkeley

is there anywhere to play basketball, tennis, and swim (lap swim) for fun? I remember going on a tour around the campus one day and saw a swimming pool somewhere, but I'm not sure whether it's for students who are not on the team. (casually- for a workout in other words) Does the gym have a basketball court?

I bought a swim suit and am not enrolled in any PE class.

Could I still work out in Hearst Pool?

I’m pretty sure it should cost money to get into…just like having a membership to a gym. But idk i didnt ask about the gym. anyone that knows about this , please reply.

It’s $10/month.

You can bill it to CARS right now (granted you’re registered) and start using the facilities on the first day of the semester.

@CaseyD> It’s actually a better deal than even that. It’s only $10 per semester.

I see that cal offers swimming lessons under ‘conquer your fear’. I have this fear of water, but i want to learn how to swim. Are there plenty of ‘older’ guys like me taking swimming lessons up there… or is it going to b really awkward?

i might actually look into that. as lame as it sounds, i didn’t swim for around 8 years and have since “forgotten” how to swim.

@CalBear2009 Oops, I knew that. :P

@CCnewbie: Count me in. >.< So no, you aren’t alone.

-Ben

if you haven’t learned, i’d say go for it. swimming is kinda essential to life in the summer more or less…

hunterbender and petosh - when do you plan to start?

@CCnewbie: I am not quite sure. Right now, I am still trying to get college transition down. I guess when you want to start, hit me a message. I don’t check CC that often…but I’ll see it eventually. Lol

anybody doing Cal Running Club?

join the squash team…they have an open tryout during/around Caltopia. last years finals took place at Princeton.

I wouldn’t mind joining one of these clubs since I could use the extra exercise, haha.
