I know that sports are helpful to get into college as an undergrad, but does it help in graduate school? I'm deciding if I should play sports in college. I want to focus on studying, but I wouldn't mind doing the sport if it would help me in college app. Please reply.

Personally I'm not sure since I haven't/don't plan on going to med school, however my brother just recently went to med school (couple of days ago actually).

He didn't play any sports (besides in a softball leauge thing, him and his friends did) and got accepted to a few medical schools. I also remember him saying that he wanted to play baseball, but if he did, he definately wouldn't have gotten the grades he did get because of the time it takes.

Instead he did a lot of volunteering and working at a doctor's office in the summer.

But I know my teacher (who dropped out of med. school) did track in college, and she got accepted.

Personally I'd think it would be hard to manage, but I guess it all depends on the person. I think anything that would make you stand out as a well rounded person would be good, but if you have to sacrifice your grades then its not a good idea.

hmm... thanks for the insightful answer. still unsure what I should do. I'm planning to attend a college with heavy loads of homework (even though i'm not a heavy studier in high school). hmm...
